BUDDING FILM STUDENTS BLOSSOM IN THE GARDEN.
We are thrilled the Gulf Coast Food Project, a group of film students under the tutelage of professor Temple Northup, assistant professor at the UH Jack J. Valenti School of Communication, decided to include Gregory-Lincoln's culinary/garden program in their Food Film series. The Gulf Coast Food Project is all about understanding Houston's richly diverse food culture, and the historical, social and political issues surrounding food as they relate to each unique story. Here's film student Abigail Hagan's short of our first Dig It Day of the year. The crew will be following us and we can't wait to see the finished film. Stay tuned! |
THANKS ABIGAIL FOR DOCUMENTING OUR DIG! |

ROLLING INTO A SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL YEAR WITH THE GARDEN CLUB OF HOUSTON!
Thanks to Arbor Care, Inc. and the organizational efforts of Ms. Doris Heard of the Garden Club of Houston, our "Cultivated Classroom," will have ample seating for our hands-on outdoor classes this school year. We are so blessed to have partnerships who want to be planted at our school to make sure our students have what they need to learn in traditional and non-traditional settings. Thanks again Arbor Care, Inc. and Garden Club of Houston for beating the summer heat for a cool as cucumber start to a new school year! |
BUILD IT. GROW IT. PACK IT. SELL IT!
Bring on the cool season! Fall and Winter are probably our favorite gardening times of the year in Houston. Our kiddos built raised organic garden beds, cultivated the earth, sowed, and then harvested sweet potatoes, radishes, carrots, herbs, lettuces and greens, all for our annual fall Farmer's market. We sow in September and go from garden to market in just 2-3 months!
LOVE LETTERS FROM THE GARDEN, MWAH!
Garden grazing at Gregory-Lincoln.
Students are encouraged to graze through the garden when working or just hanging out; to tantalize taste buds
and open their palates to the fresh flavors of the season. Some surprises come in the sweetest of packages:
